Public transport forms the backbone of any sustainable mobility system due to its ability to transport large numbers of passengers, and is supplemented by public and private-sector shared individual mobility offerings, in particular in sparsely populated areas. To help address this multimodal demand, MaaS needs to provide better linkage between the various different modes by integrating all types of solution. What is more, multi-modal solutions are easily accessible only if purchasing, payment, and access to services meet shared standards, against the backdrop of open data issues.
