Mobility operators

Wiener Linien is Vienna’s public transport operator. We provide our two million passengers a day with state-of-the-art mobility services while constantly developing urban mobility in the world's most livable city. Our goal is to supply the people of Vienna with mobile freedom, providing an ever-growing range of climate-friendly mobility solutions from public transport vehicles to shared mobility services.

With a workforce of around 8,700 employees, the company ensures the efficient operation of five metro lines, 28 tram lines, and 131 bus lines, catering to approximately 960 million passengers each year.

WienMobil, the innovative service provided by Wiener Linien, integrates various modes of transportation into a single, user-friendly platform, aiming to enhance the convenience and flexibility of urban travel in Vienna. The service encompasses multiple components, including WienMobil Auto, WienMobil Rad, and WienMobil Hüpfer, each designed to cater to different mobility needs.

WienMobil Auto offers car-sharing services, allowing users to access and book shared vehicles conveniently. This service is ideal for those who occasionally need a car for specific trips without the hassle and cost of owning one.

WienMobil Rad integrates bike-sharing into the WienMobil platform, providing a green and healthy mode of transport. Users can easily find and rent bicycles for short trips around the city, making it an excellent option for quick errands, commuting, or leisurely rides.

WienMobil Hüpfer is a flexible on-demand shuttle service designed to fill the gaps in the public transportation network, especially in areas not well-served by traditional transit options.

Decarbonization of the bus fleet

Wiener Linien are actively working on decarbonizing its bus fleet with significant investments in both electric and hydrogen-powered buses. By 2025, the company plans to integrate 60 electric buses and 10 hydrogen buses into its network. These efforts are part of Vienna’s broader strategy to meet its climate goals and comply with the EU Clean Vehicles Directive, positioning the city as a leader in sustainable urban transportation.
